About

The Global Framework for Action to Cope with Water Scarcity in Agriculture in the Context of Climate Change, better known as  the Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture (WASAG) has been designed to bring together key players across the globe and from different sectors to tackle the collective challenge of improving water usage in agriculture to ensure food security for all.

It is a partnership hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and consists of governments and intergovernmental agencies, Member Nations, United Nations (UN) agencies (other than FAO), other UN bodies, international financial institutions (IFIs), academia and research institutions; civil society organizations (including non‑governmental organizations [NGOs]), and private sector organizations encompassing social enterprises, trade associations and foundations.

2nd WASAG International Forum – Summary

In Praia, Cabo Verde, West Africa, from 7-10 February 2023 FAO and the Government of Cabo Verde hosted the 2nd WASAG International Forum on the topic of “Making agriculture resilient for climate change: Water scarcity, an opportunity for action and collaboration” The forums objectives were to mobilize political commitment to accelerate strategic actions, including policies and investments for addressing water scarcity in agriculture.
