Soil salinization is the most prevalent form of soil degradation in the Senegal River Valley (SRV), undermining agricultural productivity, devaluing land and threatening food security. Via the ISSM4RICE project, pilot tests were conducted in four Farmer Field Schools (FFS), demonstrating the performance of salt-tolerant varieties coupled with nutrient management options, fostering discussions and awareness raising among the communities. A capacity building training was organized to engage with stakeholders on the topic, promote effective salt management practices and explore further collaborations for a greater outreach.
