Avoid soil salinisation problems by monitoring the soil
Farmers are frequently unaware of soil conditions that can cause salinisation problems if the right soil and irrigation management strategies are not adopted. These problems can lead to crop yield loss and in serious cases, to the complete loss of the crop. Researchers from the INIAV and IDL in Portugal are conducting studies to test new methods to efficiently monitor soil salinisation and to propose preventive and corrective measures to protect the soil’s productive potential.
